IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) External Language courses availability and support

Students undertaking the IBDP may choose to study courses online via Pamoja Education, or by arrangement with a qualified IBDP language teacher or tutor. Students wishing to pursue one of these options should contact Mrs Sharon Munro, Director of Learning (IB Diploma). This usually applies to languages where a language teacher/tutor will deliver lessons at school or remotely or a combination of both. IBDP teachers/tutors must be qualified IB Diploma teachers and be approved by the Director of Learning: IB Diploma. They should also have current Working with Children clearance. Course administration is undertaken by Mrs Sharon Munro (Director of Learning: IB Diploma) and Mrs Julie Blackford (IB Administrator). Mr Sinovich offers academic support to these students, if required.

Careers Programme: Further Education and Career Development

A comprehensive programme consisting of several distinct areas relating to further education and career development is available to students. While this commences formally in Year 10, younger students are invited to engage with a number of initiatives which are age-appropriate.  A comprehensive careers assessment programme is provided at the start of Year 10 which is very useful in guiding course and subject selection for the HSC or IBDP in Years 11 and 12 as well as further career counselling.

In addition to personal careers counselling, a range of seminars and presentations are delivered to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 throughout the year during tutorials, year level meetings, lunch-times and at other designated times. Individual student and parent consultations with the Head of Careers & Pathways Mr Des Sinovich form the largest part of the Careers programme. These are arranged with Mr Sinovich (see key contacts for contact information).

A number of programmes engaging with professionals from the parent/caregiver and alumni bodies as well as city-based corporate and academic organisations also provide students with an opportunity to explore their school subjects and their post-school interests and aspirations in a real-world context.

Parents/caregivers, alumni and friends of the school are invited to participate in the following programmes:

SubCon, RealDeal, MentorUS, WorkEX and BeyondSACS. More information can be obtained from Mr Sinovich dsinovich@sacs.nsw.edu.au

The annual Sydney Schools Careers Convention (largely organised by Mr Sinovich) takes place in Term 2. All Year 12 students are expected to attend. Students in other year levels and their parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend this comprehensive event. Regular information emails are sent to students and parents/caregivers as well as information placed on Schoology.
